Ayubowan! Welcome to Sri Lanka. Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, you’ll be met by an Intrepid representative and transferred to your hotel in nearby Negombo. At 6 pm, meet your leader and fellow travelers for a welcome meeting. If you arrive early, relax on the beach under the blue sky. After the meeting, head to a local restaurant for a seafood dinner and sample Sri Lankan favorites like pol sambal (a coconut dish) and roast paan (crispy roasted bread). (D)

Sunday, October 19, 025 – Negombo to Dambulla
Rise and shine early for a visit to the vibrant Negombo fish market – the best time to catch the frenzy of local vendors selling fresh seafood. Once you’ve had your fill of the market, it’s time to hop on the road to Dambulla for the next leg of your adventure. In the afternoon, brace yourself for one of Sri Lanka’s top highlights – the mighty Sigiriya Lion Rock.
